In a traditional acupuncture treatment a practitioner may send you home with some things called Ear Seeds. These can be very helpful in between treatments or even stand alone.
So what exactly are they….
Ear Seeds are small black seeds from the vaccaria plant or small metal beads or pellets that are secured on the ear with a piece of adhesive tape over specific acupressure points. Mild pressure is then placed with the finger tips of the person.
Did you know that every part of the body is represented in the ear!? Who would have thought!
So within this powerful little micro-system we can address various pains within the body along with stress and emotional blockages. The concept is very similar to what we know about reflexology. Pressure applied to these areas stimulate the corresponding body part or organ. Ear seeds are non-invasive, meaning, they do not puncture the skin what so ever.
These are also great for children to help with focus, allergies, digestive issues and more. Kids actually find them to be fun!
Auricular (Ear) Acupressure has been shown to lower cortisol levels in the body –> which in turn decreases stress and inflammation!
Have you ever been in the midst of a panic attack or just a very stressful situation and wish there were a way to quickly get out of that fight or flight mode?? Ear seeds may be your answer!
Some of the more well known uses of ear seeds are used for Addictions, Smoking Cessation and Weight Loss. Ear seeds allow the person to take charge of their well being because they are the ones pushing and utilizing the acupressure techniques. The ear seeds essential help with the stress correlated with these issues along with the specific cravings a person may have.
